Beginner Adult Monday Nights
This is a night for adults new or returning to Badminton after a long break. This will run in blocks of 4 weeks, run by an experienced Badminton Otago player. Each 4 week block will focus on learning about the game, basic footwork and how to hit the shuttle and well as game play. Turn up by yourself or a friend, fun games organised on the night, no pre-booking or ongoing commitment required, just turn up on the night. Rackets and shuttles will be provided. The aim is to teach the basics of the game in a fun and social environment. From here players can transition into the concurrently running United Club or other clubs, or organise ongoing private bookings with other players.
Cost: $5 cash per adult per night.
When: In 2024 starts Monday 11 March. 7 – 8:30pm, then Mondays through to winter depending on demand in 4 week blocks with some breaks.

Shuttle Time – Junior Friday Nights
This is a Badminton New Zealand program encouraging participation and is great for those children starting out in badminton. This is for children aged 5 –13 years, lots of fun games with some informal coaching from top junior players and coaches, just turn up as you like on the day. Rackets and shuttles provided.
Cost: $2 cash per child on the night.
When: Every Friday of each primary school week, term time only. 5.30 – 6.30 pm.

Junior Coaching

Sunday Night Masters
As the name suggests, this is made up of primarily masters age players (35 +), but players of other ages are welcome. No membership/seasonal options, just pay and play on the night. All abilities welcome.
Cost: $10 per adult per night.
When: Sunday nights throughout the year (public holiday dependent), 7 – 8:30pm.

United Badminton Club
United Badminton Club welcomes players aged 16+ and abilities but is primarily a social badminton club.
Cost: Please inquire for membership rates, student and family rates available.
When: In 2024, club nights run from 18 March to September, 7pm.

In 2023, Green Island Badminton Club moved to the Otago Badminton Centre. We are a social badminton club catering for players of all abilities.
