Social and club play
Badminton Otago runs a regular games night suitable for A/B/C/social grade adult players, this is typically Thursday nights 7-9pm at the Otago Badminton Centre. This runs during the winter/badminton season, typically March - September. There are several clubs affiliated to Badminton Otago that run club nights in Dunedin. For 2026, please contact the Green Island Badminton Club (secretarygibc1@gmail.com) and/or United Badminton Club (unitedshuttles.club@gmail.com) for details on their club nights, costs etc. Please note this is run by the clubs and not by Badminton Otago so please get in touch directly with them.
Anyone can book a court at the Otago Badminton Centre and play with friends, for details on this please refer to https://badmintonotago.org.nz/book-a-court
If you live elsewhere in Otago and are keen to play badminton, please contact us and we can put you in touch with Otago regional contacts as appropriate. Many clubs and playing groups in Otago run their own website and/or Facebook page.
Adult beginners
Several times a year (between March-September) we run an adult beginners course, aimed at adults new to or returning to badminton. The course is taken by a Badminton Otago coach. Across the 4 weeks the fundamental shots will be taught along with rules/scoring etc, with the emphasis on fun and playing games. Competitive play / higher level competition

Represent Otago
Badminton Otago has 3-4 Senior rep teams, that compete in South Island and National team competitions throughout the year. Trials are typically held in March-April each year. For more information please contact seniorreps@badmintonotago.org.nz
Masters badminton (age 35+)
As well as participating in many of the activities listed above, there are dedicated masters (35+) vets (50+) and super vets (60+) badminton events.
