Match play for A grade – have your say today!

Jeff, the coaches, and some senior players have been discussing the pros and cons of a separate matchplay night for senior rep players and have come up with the following proposal:

Let’s run a five team competition, consisting of 2 men and 2 ladies in each team on a Wednesday night or weekend day, starting next week.

We currently have approximately 14 ladies and 16 blokes on file, with hopefully university players joining in. This format gives each team a bye and gives the organisers some spare players to avoid defaults. See other details below.

Next steps, action required: What are your thoughts??

Send an email TODAY to Jeff zn.gro.ogatonotnimdabnull@reciffo-ved answering the following three:

  1. Are you keen to play? If no, why not?
  2. If yes, what day would suit you (Wednesday or weekend, name time … see below)?
  3. Any other ideas or comments.

Replies are required asap – TODAY!

Details:

  • The teams and players would be selected by Roger, Andy and Jeff.
  • This event gives you a regular hard night of match play. Participation in this will help towards your selection in the Division 3 representative teams and your results at the Otago Open on the 11th/ 12th of May. The first representative fixtures in Timaru are the 26th of May.
  • Those who have a bye can participate in the Thursday night double competition, which is strongly encouraged.
  • The Wednesday night isn’t booked up yet, but a weekend may be better suited to the majority. The weekends may become disjointed when tournaments and rep events start. Tell us your preference.
  • Cost: Budgeted to be similar to last year, $10 to $12 per night and payable upfront in a lump sum.
  • Commitment: We would do a draw for 5 weeks, 4 matches each team and then re-evaluate with your input. Once teams are sorted, you can ask for when you have the bye, this may be because of exams or other events.
  • Dates: If possible we would start next week and play on the following dates (Wednesdays): April 25, May 2, 9, 16, 23.
