The Otago 1 Senior team is facing off against Counties Manukau 1 this weekend for the New Zealand Division 3 final.

This is happening at the Angus Badminton Centre (101 Victoria Rd), at 9.30am on Saturday 9th September.

It would be great to have some local support, so come along and cheer us on!

Registration is now open for the 2017 South Island Masters Games, 4-8 October in sunny Nelson.

Badminton is open to men and women ages 35+ years from anywhere in New Zealand and overseas. There are singles, doubles, mixed doubles and teams events on offer in both social and competitive grades. Participants compete for medals in 5 year age groups. There’s no need to qualify or belong to a club and anyone can participate as long as you’re old enough.

This year’s social programme is packed. Get your fancy dress and dancing shoes on at the Ancient Greece and Americana themed dance parties. They’re legendary and not to be missed! Experience a sunset harbour cruise in the sunniest place in NZ and place your bets at the casino night with free money.

BNZ Player Number compulsory use for BNZ santioned events

To: All Associations

Please can you ensure your players know their BNZ Player number and use this when entering BNZ sanctioned events on-line

The numbers can be found:

If a player does not have a number – please get them to enter 0000 – they will be assigned a number at the event they first enter, who will then advise them of their number for future events

We have a number of players who consistently enter a wrong or incorrect number
As from 1 March 2015 we have been warning players who do this – we will warn them once, subsequent incidences will result in the entry not being accepted

Please ensure your players are advised of this. They may need to alter their Tournament Planner “account details” if they have saved an incorrect number

Correction to Brooke Cup date and additional info for those keen for Senior Team

For those of you interested in the Brooke Cup trip to Invercargill, the date in is SUNDAY 29th March (NOT Saturday 28 March as posted previously), Senior team tie starts at 1pm, with prize giving and afternoon tea at 4pm. So travel will be leaving Dunedin by car pool around 10am and returning after the prize giving , eta around 7pm back in Dunedin.

Brooke cup format – 4 ladies singles, 4 mens singles, 2 ladies doubles, 2 mens doubles, 4 mixed double = 16 matches.

Hopefully see you down at the Hall on Monday March 16. After the session on March 16 we will take names of those interested in Brooke Cup.

Congratulations to winning teams in all grades! Badges will be presented to the 1st and 2nd team in each grade of both rounds at the dinner next week.

Boxed Doubles Competition

As a break from Interclub during the uni/school holidays, here are some details for the boxed competition, also available on this form.

  • Starts 7pm Thursday 26th
  • Duration 4 weeks (play on 26th June, 3rd, 10th, 17th July)
  • Cost $10 per player payable on the night
  • Open to all members of an OBA Club

Entries close Tuesday 24th June 5pm

Format:

  • Any 2 players (double) will be placed in boxes with pairs of similar ability
  • Each box will be allocated one court and 12 shuttles (extra shuttles – $3.00 each – available from duty person).
  • You will play all other pairs in your box “best of 3 to 21”.
