Hi everyone.

Some updated information about this season’s Masters tournaments.

For those who ordered t-shirts – they have now been ordered from the supplier & should be delivered in Dunedin this week or nearly next week.  Then I’ll take them to the embroiderer & we should have them a week later.

First tournament is the Southland tie of the Cadbury Cup for 40+ players only.  This is on Sunday May 17th and we hope to enter 3 full teams plus men for the Men’s doubles competition.    (4 men/4 ladies per team)

Next is South Island Masters Badminton in Timaru at Queen’s Birthday weekend.  (35+)  (29 May – 1 June)  I already asked about this earlier as we had to get a feeling for numbers & start booking accommodation.  Otago has now entered 3 teams for this weekend.  (4 men/4 ladies per team)

The Dunedin hosted Cadbury Cup  tie is on Sunday 28th June.  

On Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th August Southland are hosting their annual Southland Masters tournament.  We are warmly invited to enter teams and/or pairs for doubles/mixed and possible singles for the keen beans.  You get together with others and enter accordingly into age brackets.

South Island Vets is Sat 15th & Sunday 16th August  (50+) and we have entered 2 teams so far with a view to adding one if we can find enough players.  (3 men/3 ladies per team)

Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th September is our Otago Masters tournament.  Similar to above.  Southland and Otago will provide more info closer to the time but mark these in your diaries if you are interested.  They will both be fun weekends.

South Island Masters Games are in Nelson this year and badminton is being played on Sunday 27th & Monday 28th of September.  This is a great opportunity to play badminton in a different location.  The Badminton Hall in Richmond is a nice venue and it’s a lot of fun.  Talk to some others in (or close to) your age bracket and enter the doubles, mixed and teams events.  http://www.simasters.co.nz/

For anyone interested in the Canterbury Masters open doubles & mixed doubles – they are held in July.  They incorporate these into their Sunday evening masters so they start at 5pm.  Not easy for us down here but if you are in the area put these dates in your diary.  Doubles – Sunday July 19th & mixed – Sunday July 26th. More information will be sent at some stage.

Many people have indicated availability for the Cadbury Cup & SI Masters & Vets.  If you haven’t yet & are available and would like to be considered for a team for any of these, please let me know ASAP.  Email reply or text 0210786999 is the best method.
